Intro post: Hello!

Who are you, and where else we may find you around the web?

I'm Brewster, and mostly where I've been posting since 2011 (shamefully neglecting my Dreamwidth) is [twitter.com profile] brewsternorth.

What have you read/watched/listened to?

I got into Hornblower fandom through the A&E series, but stayed for the Forester books, of which I've read all except for Midshipman. I'm probably due a rewatch of the A&E series, and definitely want to get in on the old-time audios.

What drew you into the fandom? What do you love in it? Why do you stay?

I tend to lurk a great deal in fandoms, especially large ones (my Ur-fandom was "Doctor Who", and I am also a Holmesian who got into the early series of "Sherlock"). Hornblower fandom is small and well formed, like a good sloop.

What kinds of activities would you enjoy doing?

Just about to post a fic! That plus meta/historical discussions is my jam.

Hello and welcome! [personal profile] colebaltblue and I are Holmesians too (we run [community profile] holmestice, a twice-yearly anon pan-Holmesian gift exchange), and dabble in Doctor Who as well. (We're working our way through 8th Doctor audios right now -- our love for Bush is deeply entangled with our appreciation of Paul McGann.)

Hurrah, new fic! And oh, goodness, I see you started that series ten years ago, when the LJ fandom was more active -- I recognize some of those names! ([personal profile] colebaltblue has been digging our way through the archives of the LJ comms in the search of fic and other fanworks. Even with what's been lost to journal-deletions, there's still so much good stuff there!)

And please, if you want to lead any meta/historical discussions, feel free! [personal profile] sharpiefan did a lovely series a few months ago about the roles of marines on Royal Navy ships, if that's of interest. Or suggest topics to us, and we'll see what we can scrape up.
